Had quite a busy couple of days. Finally finished reading Pericles and have made some progress with initial thoughts and ideas. I've had two main ideas that I am currently developing. I'm interested in the whole Diana/divine plan for the characters side of things which is an undercurrent of the play that is a bit deeper than the seabound swashbuckling adventure side of things. However I think the two sides of the play, the spiritual journey Diana plans for the characters and Pericles voyage and his familys journey back to each other provides something I could build on. It's just a bit more difficult to find an era or area to focus on.

Last night I went to a meeting with Maggie, the design team and the stage manager of Maw Broon. I had a think about what i was going to say when discussing the model and made some notes etc so I didn't turn bright red and muble shit again. However when it came to it Robin ended up speaking which let me off the hook but in a way I'd have rathered spoken purely for the fact the more I do it the more sure of myself I'll become. The meeting went well and I think we were all getting excited about the production. I found it a helpful experience to be the meeting situation and hearing the directorial and stage management point of view of things along with our design ideas. Rehearsal begin on Monday in the Arches so I'm looking forward to seeing how Maggie and the actresses bring the script to life.

For the rest of today I think I'm going have another read over the script and scrutinise it abit more making character lists for each scene and taking note of stage directions etc.
